Keyword Proximity Keyword Prominence

When it comes to writing titles and description meta tags, and even the actual posts, keyword proximity and Keyword prominence play a key role in search engine optimization. Unfortunately Proximity and Prominence are often confused, so let's see the differences between Keyword Proximity and keyword prominence.

You have to consider this matter to get good rankings for the chosen phrases and you have to pay attention to the way you put your keywords next to each other, if you place the keywords together you will be fine and you will be taking care of the proximity.

This is a problem that comes out in keyphrases because for a single keyword there is no problem of proximity. When we have a keyphrase of two or three words is when we have to be careful and respect the proximity of our main keyphrase. Basically it is how the keywords are close to each other. To do good we don't have to separate the keyphrases, I will give you a simple example:

If you want to rank your web page for "used cars San Diego", your text should read like this: we have the best selection of "used cars. San Diego exposition opened also on week-ends! Come and see us 24 / 7!"

You would think I have separated the keyphrase but I haven't, the period doesn't separate a sentence for the search engine, and I have taken care of the proximity because I haven't broken the sentence "used cars San Diego".

When you write your texts you have to be really careful and you have to avoid not taking care of proximity, let me give you a wrong example of the previous sentence including the wrong use of the keyphrase proximity:

our keyphrase is "used cars San Diego"

Wrong proximity:

Come and see the huge selection of "used cars. Our store in San Diego is here to help you out…" What is the mistake?? The mistake is that we broke the key phrase with the words "our store in", we interrupted it, so just remember when you write your text to use keyword proximity to your advantage.

I have to admit that in both examples, you will get value from the search engine because the keywords are in your text. However, with the first example, you will receive more value because your keywords are right next to each other.

These strategies are so important, and can make a big difference if you use them or not! Building web sites can be tricky, and unless you know what you are doing, you are just surviving, not thriving. Take care of keyword proximity and implement these changes today, and they will help you increase your search engine rankings.
