Write Good Content 5 Tips

5 Ways To Consider If You Want Your Content To Be Timeless

To be competitive, in any niche, you have to blog and this is a solid fact. As a site owner, and as a blogger, your number one rule of thumb when writing your content, is to make the content as timeless as you can make it. When your content is not been created to be timeless, you will face the danger of having all your hard work becoming irrelevant in a matter of just months. If this happens, you will lose readers, credibility and traffic, and your site will suffer.

Creating timeless content can seem difficult, but it is as simple as just following a few aspects when you make it. Don't worry, your writing style will not be affected.

The Five Rules :

1. Avoid Items That Will “Date” Articles

Even in the cases when your articles are being inspired by recent events, you have to avoid to mention specific dates inside the article. Readers may lose interest at the time of reading the article, when they get to a specific date with some kind of information, and they may immediately quit reading that information once they realize the event is passed. This is why you have to avoid the use of words like "recently" or "yesterday", or any word that specify a certain time.

2. Original Content Is A Must

When writing on topics that have been widely discussed, you have to take a sort of fresh approach. Some research has to be done before you write, then write about it from a different angle, and consider also how the subject has been approached. Give your readers a new and valuable point of view.

3. Provide Cutting Edge Information, Quality Content Only

You have to be the expert in your niche or people will not be interested in what you have to say, try to give prof of what you claim, unless you are already an established guru and backing up your information is the best way to build trust in your niche. Mentioning all your sources of information is crucial, and double check all the links in your articles. Proofread your post to make sure it is the best quality and is as error-free as you can. This is hard if English is your second language like me, in this case you have to come up with great valuable content to grab the attention of your audience.

Just remember that building a readership is based on a trusting relationship between the reader and the writer. Consistency in the type of information and quality level of the work is what will help writers meet with great success.

4. Add Value To News Or Current Events

If you write blog posts, the chances that you’ll write at least one breaking news or current event article is almost guaranteed. When you do write something that is relevant only for a specific time period, try adding some value to it rather than only reporting the facts.

Adding you opinion, analyzing the information, or even proposing an idea based on the event are great examples of how you can add timeless value to your writing.

5. Remove The Post Date vs Keeping It

Considering that most of the traffic comes from search engines, you have to be aware that visitors read individual posts more often than the homepage.

So showing the date on the articles, can give visitors the idea that a post is outdated and that can decrease the effectiveness of the article, Google rewards more the blog posts that have a date on them, so even if you would be tempted not to show the post date, to show your reader your post is still current, you better do it, to please Google and rank better.

Once again you have to please both Google and the user. While it is a good idea avoid being too specific on difining the time of what you are talking about, in the mean time eliminating the date from your posts can affect the general impression Google has of your blog.
